Lewis is based off of none other than Hoban "Wash" Washburne from Joss Wheddon's Firefly and Serenity. The reason being that, like Wash, Lewis is usually the voice of reason when people like Alec or Archer feel that shooting is the answer. He also resembles Lewis physically in many ways.

Carol is based off of the character Cally Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica the Re-Imagined series. Carol, like Cally, is usually silent, sort of in the background, but very intelligent and integral.
